  1. Hi

Here’s a “fun” reminisence that you may be interested in regarding “FORCE 10”. At the time of the film’s release in the UK, I was 14 and attending secondary school (high school) . One of our school’s regular supply teachers was also a part-time actor whom we had ALL seen on TV in various shows. He was one of “FORCE 10” ‘s background Nazi officers during the scene Mallory and Barnsby are captured and being questioned, and if I remember correctly he’s tied up by Robert Shaw and shot by Franco Nero. It has been so long since I watched the film, I can’t remember if there was every an establishing shot of the teacher with Shaw, Ford and Nero. The kicker for me was that for the remainder of my school life, I only ever saw him from a distance, but he never stood in for one of my teachers again so I could never speak to him about the film.

Also one of the authors of “The Essential Bond” once told me that he’d once asked Guy Hamilton why he directed “FORCE 10” and with a big smile on his face, Hamilton replied, “I got a lovely villa in Spain out of that”. Ford wasn’t the only one doing it for money and billing …
